Aim of the project: To continue systematic work aimed at promoting the concept of detention houses in CZ and Europe and support the further development of the RESCALED network and its importance at European level.

  • Promote the issue of prison reform and criminal justice as one of the priorities of the new Czech government.
  • Influence the design of the new open prison for women (initiate discussion and work on implementing good practices in the operation of the new prison and its connection with the community).
  • Based on analytical materials, promote evidence-based arguments and disseminate them among key stakeholders and political leaders.
  • Define suitable concept for detention houses to the Czech Republic as a basis for further strategic and advocacy work to promote the concept of detention houses.

Project activities:

  1. VOICE: Strengthening the voice of people with lived experience in CZ and within the RESCALED movement
  2. EVIDENCE: Gathering and spreading evidence that supports the transformation from large institutions to detention houses
  3. MAINSTREAMING: Gaining more support and spreading knowledge about the detention houses in CZ and Europe
  4. IMPLEMENTATION: Anchoring the RESCALED principles in the Czech criminal justice system and on a European level.
  5. SUSTAINABILITY: Supporting the organizational growth and financial stability of the RESCALED movement
